Packing out...

Packing out is coming along, though I have a lot more to do.  My grandsons will come this weekend to help me load the heavy stuff in the trailer.

Dad's ol thermos

I've been notifying all the utilities, homeowners ins, banks, etc. of the cut off date for the house. PG&E, homeowners ins., banks, city water & sewer, all were just a simple phone call.  When I phoned the garbage service to have it stopped. They said "You have to come to the office to close out the account and bring a copy of the DC, estate admin court ltr, and a photo ID."
"Seriously, to stop the, paid up in full, garbage service?"
"Yes."

Moving can be a hassle, but you have to laugh at some of the things that happen, and of course the oddest things tickle me.
One was the old gentleman who showed up on the "pickup your items day" for the estate sale items. When the barely ambulatory old gentleman showed up at the front door I thought he was most likely here to pickup some small lot.  Nope, his wife had bought the huge, solid wood, heavy as hell, dry bar!

"Well ok, do you have help & a dolly to get it out of the house and loaded."  I asked.

"I don't have a dolly, but my son is with me to help."

"Ah, well it's right in here, sir."

Then he introduced his son, a one legged fellow with a crutch...

  1. The old gentleman with the crippled son did show motivation!

I'm glad to hear that things are moving forward to you and that you're navigating the bureaucratic insolence with good humor. Naturally Willie is there to supervise.

    1. LL,
LOL, the old gentleman's wife was the motivator in that outfit.

There are too many people coming and going around here for Willie's liking. He has been staying with my daughter and her pack of dogs. From all accounts having a great time running with the pack, and chasing squirrels in the irrigation pipe stacks.

    1. Rain,
The two estate sale guys had brought a couple dollys and with the help of another customer (very fit young fellow) got it out of the house and loaded for him.

  6. Moving is a nightmare but it can have some giggles too. Gotta admire the spunk of the old fellow and one legged son. Hope they made the move safely.

    1. Arkansas Patti,
There were a lot of nice people that bought and most were well prepared to handle their items. The old gentleman and his son were appreciative of the help they got.

  9. Dad's ol thermos is a piece of art and would make a nice study in black and white. Where are you going, Brig?

    1. Cheri,
Dad's ol thermos has character, just like Dad. I'm thinking of putting his ashes that I saved for my brother in it to ship it. Dad would laugh I know!
I'm going down to my daughter's til the estate is settled, then on to Vancouver WA and who knows after that...
