Home again...

WILLIE's HOME!  He showed up at the door, horribly thin and dirty... but he's home. He's had a small bite to eat, a warm bath, and is now sleeping off his latest misadventure on my lap.
His GPS tracker has been ordered and he won't be going off leash til it's on his collar.
Thanks for all your prayers and concern.

  1. Oh prayers have been answered! I am soooo glad Willie is home! That little darling(-: I know you were worried sick. I totally understand how that is. Jack use to run off in his early years and scare me. I always thought the worst. A lot of wild animals here. Now he can hardly see or hear so he never leaves me. I hated to have to keep him on a leash. But those little dogs love to run and hunt. The GPS thing will be really nice! Glad you can both get some sleep.

    1. CiNdEe,
Yep prayers answered. It has been very cold here and there are lots of coyotes in the area, so I was doubly worried. He is sooo thin, his bones are showing. He is eating well, drinking well and all the rest. So good news. Going to take him a while to get back to a normal weight.

  2. This is the post I have been hoping for. Welcome home Willie 'ye scunging wee divil.' The only word in that Ulster-Scots phrase you might need help with is scunge which means - to wander about the countryside.

    1. Granny Sue,
It is good to have him home.
His misadventure has lead to his being terribly thin and stinky... I don't think it's what he had in mind.

  5. Oh, wonderful. I'd duct tape that fellow to my side until the tracker arrives! Glad he's home.

    1. Old NFO,
I should have gotten him a GPS tracker after the first time he went missing. I dropped the ball there...no excuse,
especially as I was at that time telling my old next door neighbors to get one for their dementia mom that was coming to live with them...

  7. You must be so relieved!! I would put the GPS tracker on him AND chip him with his ability to "go walkabout".
Little stinker! At least he is home safe and sound :)

    1. Suz,
      I am relieved!
He is already chipped, but that doesn't do any good if no one picks him up & has him scanned. Hoping the GPS tracker will fix that.

    1. Rain Trueax,
As am I! I have a feeling that another day out in the weather would have been his last...
I'm not a crier but OMG to hear that little yip and see him at the door...

  9. I am so very happy that once more Willie has returned. If only we could know where he goes and what he sees on his adventures. Now the GPS tracker will tell you where he goes if he wanders again.

    1. Granny Annie,
Thanks, it's good to have him back home. He's been through a lot with me the last few years, and
this last misadventure almost did him in.

LOL, he's all dog, and a very lucky one this time. There are lots of bold coyotes around here, and they like to snack on little critters.

    1. Woodsterman,
I don't think his misadventure was the kind of exciting he was looking for...
He is horribly thin (malnourished), and was stink'n dirty. He's eating and drinking well, and getting lots of rest, so hopefully he will be back to himself soon.

  15. I'm probably stating the obvious here, but that there is an earth dog. He went missing because he went to ground on something (fox, woodchuck, you name it) and got stuck, and only got free because he got thin enough to turn round.

If you get a GPS tracker, you want it to send out regular pings to some service or other so you can go to the last-known point. Six feet of earth make a fairly good signal blocker...
