Christmas in cowcamp...2019

I decided early on that this year was going to be about the reason for the season and how much there is to be thankful for.  One of which is: Not being a horseback in a freezing rain pushing cows to the corrals.

The presents are wrapped and shipped or waiting to be delivered. Two small trees and a few other decorations are up in the hovel.

With All the hustle and bustle of this time of year most people have been friendly and kind. Then there are the few that seem to be just rude no matter the season.  There was one such woman the other day at the UPS store. She was pacing around the store, I was standing in line.  When another clerk came in, pointed at me, and said "I'll take the next person in line."  Since the pacing lady!? was in the store before me, I wanted to let her know that the clerk could help her now.  I said "Are you in line, Because the..."  When she turned to me and snapped "Are you an idiot, of course I'm in line! Do you think I would be here if I weren't!"  I took a deep breath, and whispered a prayer to myself: "let God & karma take care of her."  As she glared at me, grabbed a box from a side table and stomped up to the counter, I'm pretty sure she had no idea how God's grace saved both of us that day.

It has been raining, raining, raining here, but darn it doesn't look like we will get snow for Christmas.

All the kids & grandkids are well and good!!! I'm warm and dry, baking cookies, drinking eggnog, and watching movies with Willie.

Wishing you and yours a Blessed Christmas!

    Done that.

Glad I'm not clearing off 120 car lot vehicles after a snowstorm.

  5. When I looked at the last photo one of the voices in my head chimed in with, "And visions of doggie treats danced through his head."

  8. Dear Brig, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas. You are a wonderful person in every way and boy, do you have self-control. That UPS store bitty might have challenged my own sense of self-control. Had to do this myself last week when a woman driving a Tesla brushed my right bumper trying overtake me while making a left turn in town. When we pulled over to exchange insurance information, she said, " You hit me!" I said, "No, you hit me." and so on and so on.

This morning on our road, at least seven trucks pulling horse trailers went down the road after what I think, was a branding time.Lots of dirty hard work.

    Take care!

    1. One of the things I miss living here is the sights and sounds of the cattle business. I've been known by the grandkids to wander the back roads in search of the same...

Looking forward to your next painting!

  11. Merry Christmas! Your response was the best and in keeping with the season. However, knowing that it is easy to think of something after the fact, next time you might tell her something along the lines of ... " Lady, I think it fair to warn you that I am a cowpuncher and you are getting awfully close."

  12. Was at the library gift store and bought about half the store. I pointed to the bookends in the window and asked if they were for sale because I wanted them. The guy helping me said yes and they guy helping him ran to the window, tossed the books out of the way and then grabbed the bookends and hid them under the counter. So much for me buying them. I guess he wanted them real bad. Rude and not quite the expected thing even in this day and town.

    Happy New Year!

    1. That is sad, and could have been handled better by the clerks. Not sure I wouldn't have walked out of the store and not purchased anything.
Happy New Year to you, sir!
