Happy New Year 2020...

I am looking forward to 2020. There are certainly enough projects around here to keep me busy, if not out of trouble.

MySean came by with his Belgian Malinois pup, Lachlan, on Monday.  Lachlan's a cutie and going to be good sized.

Both ears should be permanently up in another week or so, in the mean time...

We left Lachlan and Willie at the hovel while we went to lunch. They did just fine while we were gone.

Sean was here to install the weather tech rain shields on my Tahoe. (My Christmas present from him.) I'm liking them,  I can finally crack a window open without getting drenched.

Was going to go fishing on the Columbia with BIL & SIL today but that got postponed til the first of next week, due to high winds up there.  I went to the sporting goods to get my new fish'n license, and actually looked at the one I have. It's valid through 12.31.2020  Yay!

This morning I'm fixing Linguica sausage and eggs in the ol #8 Griswold.

Wishing you a good year.

  1. Bet you find those rain shields will help keep your windows clear of crud from other car's tires.

    1. I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the heads up. They sure are nice to have here in the rainy PNW.

    1. That reminds me, I need to get a new calendar. When I was a kid we used to get all kinds of free calendars from the feed store, parts house, hardware, tractor dealer, etc...
The Vargas girl calendars were always posted in the mechanic/equipment shop and no one was allowed to write on them. If you had to leave a note you wrote on the feed store calendar.

    1. Thanks!
Sean's girlfriend trains police/military dogs and raises a few of this breed, so he has help.
Sean has given him specific chews and Lachlan has been really good about not eating shoes... so far.

  7. Happy New Year, Brig!

You're the only person I know who has the Weathertech rain deflectors. I've been looking at them for my Grand Cherokee because I'l tired of wiping up rain when I open the window a bit. Nice to see they appear to work "As Advertised".

    1. I really like them, and they work well, especially here in the PNW. Sean lives in rainy Astoria and has them on Ruby (his F350). He can crack the window for the pup and not get drenched.

That pup is so dang cute and what great bone he has. I was raised with German Shepherds when the breed was still solid, when the dogs had a normal topline instead of the triangles they have become today. What a beautiful puppy. Please tell Sean he done good. I wish you only the very best that 2020 has to offer!

  9. Happy New Year, Brig! Sausage cooked in cast iron sounds just fine. Larry's off helping butcher a hog today, so we'll have fresh sausage soon. Yum!

    1. I sometimes get fresh sausage from my ex son-in-law. He and the grandkids make a lot of sausage each year. He has his secret recipes, all are interesting!
      Happy New Year, Sue!

  10. Hi Brig: I have seen your comments on other blogs, but this is the first time I have visited yours. I like the cabin in the header. As I believe I wrote before in another blog's comments, we must be near neighbors as we ( my wife and I ) also live in the (rural) PNW.

    Thanks for the post.

  12. Happy New Year Brig. I follow your blog but don't think I have comented before. I do not have much use for the rainshield here in the Arizona desert. as I usually role down the truck window just to get wet. I do however have a small collection of cast iron akillets both Griswold and Wagners. I also have a griddle, but darn if I can locate it without tearing up the Shed, as it is only used while camping. I enjoy your blog and will visit as time allows. Best wishes

I have a well loved cast iron griddle on the other side of my range, (left side of the photo).

I hope your husband finds a Melinois pup. It helps that Sean's girlfriend raises and trains them professionally.
