Basket case...

Time to take up basket making again, or just declare that I'm a basket case...

Dad left so much behind to sort through, his favorite hats are still on the hall tree by the back door.  I haven't the heart to get rid of them, yet.

Been doing repairs around the place, which means a hammer, a tube of caulking, and a touch up paint brush are with me at all times.  There is also a length of weed wacker string, pruners, fencing pliers, and garden gloves dangling out of other pockets. I need to get one of those cool folding wagons to pack all this stuff around.  Cousin Jess had one at the range, and that thing was great for hauling ammo cans, range bags, etc to the stations.  The crimson trace came in for the little Sig. Very cool.  I wasn't going to get one, (not a budget item) but then they put a $50 rebate on it, and the local gunny gave me a deep discount, and I weakened.
Gave Cousin Jess my cowboy hat from Wall Drug in S Dakota, since he has really been saving my butt with the guns and ammo dollars.  I finally got the hat I originally wanted (budgeted for).

Now I have some settling cracks to take care of...

and then painting, and then, and then more legal stuff, and then...  my budget is shot to hell, and I haven't gotten my dress for Ali's wedding.  Time to get out the sewing machine.

The range is Hot...

A friend, Tim, let me know he was going to the range Friday afternoon. Did I want to go?  Oh Heck Yes!  Bring plenty of ammo, he said.
I made an emergency trip to see the guys and get more ammo from the gunny place.  Something tells me I might be spending too much time/money at the gunny shop. The owner calls me by my first name, and his guard dog comes up and smooches my hand.
It was hotter than a two dollar pistol Friday afternoon, which is not unusual for here.  The range was vacant when we got there. Too hot out for others, I guess.

Put a little over 150 rounds thru the little Sig and then shot Tim's AR-15.  The little Sig was great, her owner not so much.  I'm working on a group of drills that should help.
The AR was a dream to shoot.   I like that ping, ping sound a bunch.
As much pruning and sawing that I do in the yard I never thought my hands would not be up to an afternoon of shooting.  It appears I was wrong, as my ol scarred up hands are sore...

Cash Cow Witness...

Today, a month and a half after I requested it, I finally had my meeting/interview with the RBPD Lt., in the 2nd step to a CCW permit. I had previously filled out all the extensive paperwork and filed it with the RBPD.
I will say Lt and his aide were nice, friendly and liked my little Sig (I was a bit concerned, as Lt seemed to fondle the little Sig an unnecessary length of time, while whispering "sweeet..."). Oh yes, I can permit no more than three firearms, and each has to be in my name only.
Now I have to wait another two weeks to get the live scan done by the TCSO via appt, then wait for those reports to come back, then back I go to the RBPD to get the "Good Faith" letter that says I can take the required course by a RBPD approved instructor.  (that course is scheduled by the independent instructor). Certified courses taken prior to the Good Faith letter do not count. After the course is completed, the course cert. goes to the RBPD, where the Chief of Police reviews it and decides whether or not he will issue the permit.  In other words, I can complete all of the requirements and pay nearly $500 to get to this point and still be denied a permit.
I went into this knowing it was not necessarily going to be an easy or inexpensive process, but this, this is more of a cash cow scam than anything...
