New Doc...

Bright and early Friday morning I went to my new doc for a wellness checkup exam at the big clinic.

Had to put on a mask to get in the door.  First time wearing one of those paper masks, should have brought my fishing gaiter. It's much more comfortable.

Anyway, my new doc seems like a nice enough guy, though it was hard to tell as he spent most of his time reading and inputting data.

Here is my synopsis of my exam:

"All good! Got no problems, take no meds, don't want any procedures, too lazy to be suicidal, not interested in quitting blowing smoke, whether I have guns is N/A, have gained one pound, and I'm outta here!"

Today is sunny, so I'm outside digging out the piers from the front patio that was removed. Five done, two to go...

  1. I'm supposed to have my labs next week and my doctor appointment in a few weeks. Have no idea if it's even going to happen.

I could have told you how healthy you are for a lot less $$

    1. I thought they would probably want to reschedule, but they didn't. I didn't need any lab work, as I recently gave blood.
LOL, My exam is covered by my new insurance, but thanks for the offer.

    1. It was good, just wish he had been a bit more personable.

  3. I dread that we have to figure out a new doctor here in Oro Valley. I like mine in Oregon and we've been with that clinic since we bought the little ranch. I am not a fan of change lol

    1. I'm not a fan of changing Doc's either. It takes time to find one you connect with and build a rapport with. My ol doc actually looked me in the eye and talked to me. Going to miss that.

  4. Doctors now days are not even close to the old days. I miss my old doctor too. He retired years ago and I have never found anyone to replace him. My new doctor does the visit with computer in hand.

    1. In Medicine, like with many things, we have gotten away from actually talking to and listening to people...

    1. Face to face interaction is so important in medicine. My old docs could look at me and pretty much know what was going on in my life. These days I'm just a number.

    2. Reducing you to a number is most definitely THEIR loss. Glad you are healthy!!

  6. Glad to hear you're very very well. I like the no meds bit. It seems to come as a surprise to doctors I visit that there are no meds. I'm not sure we're doing it right.

    1. LOL, yes they so want me to be sick or have extensive tests, or need meds of some kind. Only had one PA tell me, as an aside, "you are doing great, good for you!"

  7. Sorta surprised by what seems to be not much concrete and not much post.
What's the frost line in your neck of the woods?

We think the world of our doctor and have followed her when she changed locations. Luckily she stayed within the same overall group.

    1. Frost line is 5" at most. These piers were under a wooden deck only one step up from ground level. Being ranch raised I expected more post and concrete as well. At my age I'm happy to have been wrong...

    2. We'd helped family build a pool deck a lot of years ago, and we helped them rip it up just recently.
Philly's frost line is around 3' and we had done a thorough job putting the posts in.
We pulled them with a tripod made from three 4x4s lashed together and a one ton comealong.
I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for this type of work!

    3. comealongs are sure handy to have. The cowman and I built a 10x24 cedar deck on the back of the the Bessie place. It was a lot of work, but fun.
If I ever have occasion to build another I would consider Trek or something like it.

  8. I'm fortunate to have a young doctor who listens.

    1. You are indeed fortunate! I have now have an older doc who doesn't.

  9. My retired doc used to be a shootin' buddy. He loved his Alaska hunts.
New doc is a pill pusher and doesn't have time to talk...sigh.

    1. My ol doc, before I moved up here, carried, and encouraged me to go to the range and keep my skill set current. He had great hunt'n stories as well.
After reading the bio on the new one, I'm pretty sure none of that is applicable to him...

  10. Yep, miss my old retired Jewish doc in NOVA. He was a shooter too. Spent time actually listening to me, then the gun discussions began.. LOL

  11. Congrats on the exam! I daren't go in but figure I'm OK (they ran a battery of tests when I came off the Arab...).

  12. They weren't going to reuse those piers? That's not good. No new deck?

    1. As far as I know no deck. I would have liked to have seen them save all those cedar boards and pressure treated posts, and have them given to someone that could use them. It was sad that the deck was sawn up and hauled off to the dump.
The HOA is supposedly going to have a landscaper fix up the common areas after the siding and windows are done. I would like to know what the landscaping plan is, but so far nada from the HOA on that front.
