Encouraged...

Finally, got the assessors report and the go ahead from my attorney to put the house on the market. Didn't think my realtor would have the papers ready til today. But, he texted me yesterday morning and said they were ready.  He's a go getter! I went by his office, saw the photos that the pro had taken (pleased with them) and we mapped out the plan, and the asking price. I signed, and signed, and signed some more.
We talked about what I could do going forward, after the house is sold. He is very supportive and encouraging about my options up North, to the point of vetting a good realtor up there, and has gallery contacts there that would offer me at a minimum part time employment, in a heart beat, if I was interested.
I got back home and two hours later he called me to laughingly say, "be careful what you ask for!" (He's aware of how anxious I am about getting this estate settled.) He had gone out to lunch and ran into a RB native that has been seriously looking to move back to the area. He wanted to know if I was up for showing the house in 15 minutes. I looked around me and thought, what the heck, in for a penny... "Sure, see you in 15."
He brought the lady, and it was a friend of The Cowman's family.  After hugs, and so good to see you again, we did the home & garden tour.  She seemed to like the house, the yard, the neighborhood, and kept saying "It's gorgeous, the whole thing is simply gorgeous". They left, and I settled back into sorting through all the stuff. Twenty minutes later my realtor called to say, "She absolutely loves the house, has the where with all to buy, and will definitely get back to us." "Oh, and so you will quit worrying about it... She said she has never seen such a clean & turn key house, and she has looked at more than a few!"
We will see what comes of this, very early days, but encouraging so far.

Well Hell...

It has gotten to be funny around here how far my taste is beyond my humble budget.  I like simple. Less is more type deco. Though I try not to change too much around here as this is Dad's house.
While searching for a rug like the one below, in a (so my style) simple Montana guest cabin bedroom...

Montana Headwaters camp cabin
that turned out to be the award winning work of Architect Daniel Turvey...

Montana Headwaters camp cabin, near Yellowstone, Montana

I ran across an app that would tell me where a photo was taken/from.

Having wondered for sometime where the cabin in my header was, because I like that porch, and had envisioned many tales of who's and where it was.  Granted one of the blankets kept tickling in the back of my mind, but the connection would not be made. Now I know, it's the Blue Pony guest cabin, on Ralph Lauren's Double RL Ranch near Ridgway, CO. Well hell!
A little disappointing that, but at least I get to see the photos and dream, which is much cheaper any way.
On a search for garden art, I stumbled onto a piece that I liked, it was simple, spoke to the modern, and the ancient, and had a touch of the shaman about it.  I could picture it at the entrance to a drive, or at the edge of a rock patio over looking a canyon...

It is a sculpture by Bill Worrell, that Texas guy. I love this piece, but... $63,000! Well Hell.  I need to learn how to weld...

Traveling Light

Since The divorce I've been winnowing thru my stuff.   Files that I've no idea why I kept. Pictures have been sorted, and the twelve million duplicates and the picture of a rock are now residing in a landfill.  I brought with me a few pieces of furniture that have a long and sorted past. The press back chairs are from a ranch wife in the wilds of Nevada via my mother and father's hunting trips.  The round oak table wandered into my care from a neighbor's barn sale, as did the pie safe. The old white chippy cabinet with the blue interior was left on the curb when a store closed, down the street from where I worked. Stuffed that sucker in the back of the ol SUV and away I went. And yes I did find a free sign on it.  A painting or two, a pot, a fry pan and a box of rocks, pretty much covers it.

In days gone by himself would back the gooseneck up to the house, and tell me to have it packed and ready to go by the time the cattle where finished being loaded.  I got pretty good at packing and traveling light.  We moved so much that I guess it stuck.
I like this lightness of being.
