More than words are needed...

Linda G is the sweetest lady I know of. She and her husband, both Air Force veterans, have been lovingly restoring their 150 year old farm house in Lecompte, Louisiana. Due to the age of their home, they were unable to insure it.

On Wednesday a tornado destroyed their home!

New Doc...

 Bright and early Friday morning I went to my new doc for a wellness checkup exam at the big clinic.

 

Had to put on a mask to get in the door.  First time wearing one of those paper masks, should have brought my fishing gaiter. It's much more comfortable.

 Anyway, my new doc seems like a nice enough guy, though it was hard to tell as he spent most of his time reading and inputting data.  

Here is my synopsis of my exam:

"All good! Got no problems, take no meds, don't want any procedures, too lazy to be suicidal, not interested in quitting blowing smoke, whether I have guns is N/A, have gained one pound, and I'm outta here!"

Today is sunny, so I'm outside digging out the piers from the front patio that was removed. Five done, two to go...

Fire Watch...

My phone just pinged a National Weather Service "Fire Weather Watch" for Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening for high winds and low relative humidity.

It took me by surprise, it's the first time I've had that happen since I moved to the PNW.  

As kids we were taught to constantly be scanning for smoke, it was just part of growing up in the back of beyond of N Calif.  At Dad's house in Red Bluff we often saw the spotter going over or the tankers, or the helos. If you weren't outside to see them, you got so you could tell who it was by the sound of their engines. 

If you have never been in a position to see what wild fire can do in dry grass, grease wood, digger pine, oak, and manzanita, I hope you never are.  And I hope I never have to experience it up here. 

 

Easter 2020...

Happy Easter...

We have sunshine and 67* today.  Just Willie and I, but I have heard from all the family, and everyone is good. 

Going forward, slowly...

They are putting in new windows, doors, and siding on the hovels (condos). The new metal roofs went on last fall.  In the process they have removed the front deck, deck roof, and fence. Now to find a home inside for the things I had stored out there.  Challenging, but not impossible.

I wanted to see the architect's elevations to get an idea of what it will look like when they finish.  Not having a lot of luck with that. According to the workman that is ripping out the decking, the HOA board president has bought close to 15 of the units and wants everything removed from the outside. This so the complex looks uniform and neat. I get that, but as an owner, I would still like to see what the (his) vision is for the complex. 

I'm staying in, reading all the books that I had stashed, and painting the inside of the hovel.  Lots of crafty things are waiting to be done, and waiting, and waiting. 

Willie has been his usual grumpy self, and gives me the stink eye when I turn off his Hallmark movies.

Some of my flowers are starting to bloom in spite of all the rain and hail storms of late.

 I'm not meant to be a towne, I'm meant to be in the back of beyond, where I can have family gatherings, a real garden, chickens, a pack of dogs, and a horse or a mule.  I'll get back there, it's just taking longer than I thought...
