The downside to not being able to get very far from mom & dad's is I don't get to see my grandkids as much as I want/need.
The gods may have smiled on me, as I think I have found a good relief caregiver for the folks. She is a pistol, talks a mile a minute, bonded, actually had dad stumped for a second, and mom just staring at her. I can be too quiet at times. She will make things interesting for them, and give me a chance to see my grandkids.

I think that the tag-team situation with care giving was/is essential to remaining sane. You need to tell Dad that you're out cruising, looking for a mate. That will set him to thinking about why you need to be cut loose from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThey are nice looking grandchildren. But then again, they have good genes...
YAY! I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteGrandkids are the best reason to grow old.
ReplyDeleteWoinderful! Enjoy your break.
ReplyDeletePS: If you find a fella, ask if he has a brother! ;)
Hardest job in the world is caregiver. So glad you have found a great relief valve to give you some "me" and grand kids time. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got someone to fill in. Take care of yourself too.
ReplyDeleteLL: Yes, I have discovered that maintaining sanity is an ongoing process. Dad thinks the whole boyfriend thing is way fun and is giving it a lot effort.
ReplyDeleteThanks, they are all great kids.
JENNY: Thanks!
EURIPIDES: They are, and I'm very blessed to have them.
GRANNYMAR: I'll just let dad know you would be interested, hmmm!
ARKANSAS PATTI: Thanks, I have high hopes that it works out for all our sakes.
CELIA: If she proves reliable, I am so ready for a road trip to visit my WA crew.
Enjoy the kids and come back refreshed from their interactions with you! :-)
ReplyDeleteOLD NFO: It may be a bit before I get to do that, can hardly wait though.
ReplyDeleteThere will be adjustments on both sides, but caregivers need a break. I was working when we took in my husband's mother, so that made things a little easier.
ReplyDeleteHave a well deserved time with the Grands.
ReplyDeleteTABOR: I'm learning the hard way, as usual!
ReplyDeleteODIE: Plan'n on it, thanks!
